* Payday loans put a staggering amount of Americans in debt. They prey on the elderly and military service members. They're awful, and nearly impossible to regulate. We've recruited Sarah Silverman to help spread the word about how to avoid falling into their clutches.

I took a $250 loan, at what was said to be $50/mo until it was paid off. I paid $50 a month for months only to find out none of that went to my loan, that was just a fee. So instead of paying back around $350 altogether at the rate I was going I would have paid off over $1,000 for a $250 loan. And had I not caught it they would have pulled the money out of my account endlessly at $50/mo and never put it towards my initial loan. They're sharks.

There are also ones in Canada that loan to Americans. That should be illegal. America pull yourself together.
