* https://democracynow.org – The city of New York announced Tuesday it is deploying funding for legal services for DACA recipients across the city, following the Trump administration's decision to rescind the DACA program. In a message posted on Twitter, the office of Mayor Bill de Blasio said, “You Are Not Alone... if you face legal problems, we'll be right there with you.” The fight to save DACA marks just the latest example of cities pushing back against the Trump administration's agenda. From climate change to sanctuary cities to police accountability to affordable housing, cities are increasingly pushing a far more progressive agenda than their counterparts in Washington. This is a central theme in a new book by Democracy Now! co-host Juan Gonz?lez titled “Reclaiming Gotham: Bill de Blasio and the Movement to End America's Tale of Two Cities.” For more, we speak with Juan Gonz?lez, longtime staff writer for the New York Daily News, now a professor of journalism and media studies at Rutgers University.

These DACA kids displace our American children in Scholarships, class placement, resources, housing, jobs …. should i go on?
I would think POC would be against illegal alien immigration. Since illegal aliens displace their children disportionately.
And how many US kids should be displaced before we act? And who decides which US kids should be displaced?

Neoliberalism has failed America. During the assassination of JFK marked the end of the new deal era. Lbj marked the beginning of great society era which ended with Jimmy Carter. From ragean to Obama is the new deal era. With Trump neoliberal era is over and he intends to undo bushes, Obama, Clinton and ragean era policies. Neoliberalism also affects cities and local and state officials both left and right want to do away with neoliberalism at the local level. Neoliberalism only benefits educated people who are mostly white.

De Blasio has had many opportunities for actual progressive change in the city and has fallen short. Homelessness is dramatically up in the last 4 years in NYC, infighting between NYC and NYS has left subway riders in the dark, there has been no real rise in affordable housing, no advocating higher minimum wage, no change in small business or real estate laws of bloomberg that created the hollowing out of commercial centers around the city. I hate to use this anecdote because it's so overused in NYC, but in a city where 2/3 don't or can't afford to drive, a person who drives 12 miles to go to the gym twice a week does not represent the people of NYC. Vote Albanese!

Mind control is not limited to one paradigm. It is far reaching and fully entrenched in all ideologies. It is inescapable when people are classified and divided into groups and pitted against one another. To break the spell, one needs to overcome the years of indoctrination and begin to think for yourself. Begin by putting aside your beliefs and emotion so you can honestly evaluate information; through repetition you will become a logical thinker.

Harvey forced the republicans to accept extending the debt limit deal just made with Nancy Pelosi and Trump, like it or not. They sacrificed principals to bring federal emergency relief dollars to Gov Abbot and resurrect Houston, the only democratic stronghold in their bastion of right wing capitalism. Texas is not the only red state to have democratic strongholds like an oasis surrounded in a desert of climate deniers and anti-working class law makers. Pennsylvania has its town citadels of middle class liberals with Clinton leanings. They are all racists, white, and upper and middle class professionals that Walmart, retail, warehouse, distributing, farm, independent contractor employees are surrounded by. Now DACA workers are persecuted as political exiles. Judges, lawyers, business CEOs, bankers, real estate owners and developers make up the towns and cities where Civil War monuments still stand, not much has been impacted. In fact, so little has been impacted because all these rural poor working class people have no defense or voice and are entirely vanished from the gerrymandering that goes on at the local level lumping and dividing working class residences. Ever wonder why in New York the Assembly is largely democratic and the house is republican? Where do people see a left 'cause I don't. These are the same political configurations that can be traced to days of the first slave revolt in America. It appears a symbiosis of right and left exists as a color difference in working class voters had put Trump in office. I, say, that claim is entirely false. Black and brown working class people have the same class injuries as white ones, unemployment, drugs, crime, etc., and this demographic did not vote Trump into office because of his opposition to the establishment. Sorry folks, Trump's election was strictly won on the basis of race, a virulent reaction to a black man holding the highest office in the world reserved for white men in a former slaveholding nation induced a shock in the internalized racist mind that a second, third, fourth, and so on, a black man could take the White House from them.

Lets see what Irma does and how the republicans cut a deal to rescue working class residents in the Caribbean. Puerto Rico and the most Veterans of all American wars. A Puerto Rican segment of the working class gerrymandered to the hilt in the Bronx and Long Island. Did they raise the debt ceiling to cover Irma or just enough for Houston? The money is always found when desired isn't it? So, my friends, the real deal is the heirs of the slave-holders and those in sympathy with them are rearing their ugly head and white America earning 500 K per annum and above are being led by white America earning a million per week and above. All off the backs of two working classes, America's and the world's, to pursue the New American Century. Ever wonder why heroic Haiti is the poorest country in the world, it is in part punishment for inciting a successful slave revolt that expelled three world powers and defeated them more than a hundred years ago but more importantly, it was forever forced to pay reparations to the slave-holders in Congress who were never prosecuted, expropriated or jailed or left the US in the post Civil War era but remained as a clan of related and intermarried extended family members inheriting the wealth extracted. If you will note the robber-barons have many heirs still living like Anderson Cooper for one, and they are the elite but not the heirs of former slave-holders who were a clan of families in Washington before the robber-barons appeared on the scene. Indeed, it is our numbers they fear most and with our numbers we can realized real freedom to express our will and shape our destinies.

HURRICANE IRMA WARNING: Everyone in florida should be in a stone concrete or brick building before the storm hits. Put kids in bathtubs and shelter underneath door frames for maximum protection from building collapse. Ear plugs are also recommended as hurricane winds are terrifyingly loud. Stay away from the coast and do not shelter in low lying places. Stay far away from glass and do not go outside after initial storm has passed as you may be in the calm of the hurricanes eye and due for a second blast.
